What are P Group Boiler Sheets?

Another name for P group boiler steel sheets is pressure vessel steels. Their most well-known feature is their good weldability. While the metal sheets with a cross section smaller than 25 mm are welded, there is no tendency to harden in the region under heat effect, ie ITAB. In this way, almost all welding techniques can be welded without any problems. It was observed that the hardness of the ones larger than 25 mm increased in the ITAB region. For this reason, pre-annealing is performed before welding. If needed, removal stress annealing should also be performed after welding. There may be an increase or decrease in the welding capabilities of the sheets compared to the heat treatment.

Boiler Steel Sheets

They maintain their durability in high temperature conditions. They have good plasticity and toughness properties even when exposed to high pressure. They are not easily deformed. In this way, they can be used for a long time without deterioration.
Boiler sheets used in many areas of industry are made up of different components. The higher the carbon amount, the higher the hardness and strength. Alloying elements are added as the increase in material hardness may cause fractures. In this way, the material is used for a long time at different temperatures.

P235GH

P235GH material is defined as unalloyed steel according to EN 10216-2 standard. It is used as an auxiliary part in boiler production in industry. It remains undisturbed up to temperatures of about 150-200oC. It has been found to withstand higher temperatures when used in steam boilers. Since it is suitable for cold forming, it can be easily processed. The code of P235GH sheets produced only by Erdemir in our country is 6335. In the product catalog, this code is defined as boiler steels suitable for use under high temperature and pressure.

P265GH

P265GH, which is generally used in the oil, gas and chemical industries, is a seamless steel pipe. It can withstand temperatures up to 450 oC. Therefore, it is frequently preferred in boiler and pipe production. It is seen that it shows similar chemical properties when compared to P235GH material. However, the Carbon content is higher and the Manganese content is lower. The beneficial effects of manganese occur as the carbon ratio increases. It increases the strength while reducing the unwanted ductility in steel. Due to these properties, its tensile strength is higher. In this way, better efficiency can be obtained.

P355GH

Used in the production of pressure vessels and pipes carrying hot liquids, P355GH is among the steels with good weldability. Its carbon and manganese components are higher than P265GH.
It is very important that the material you will buy is suitable for your place of use. For example, if you are going to produce a pressure vessel that you will use at very high temperatures, it will not work for you to buy P235GH material.
