What is galvanized sheet? What are the methods of galvanizing?
Galvanizing is a zinc coating to protect galvanized sheet materials from corrosion. Steel corrosion is caused by the contact of the steel material with air or heat. Depending on the different atmospheric conditions, the oxidation time of the steels also varies. Zinc melts at 450 ° C. The melting temperature of the steel is 1200 ° C.
What is hot-dip galvanizing, Hot-dip galvanizing plants
Galvanizing was first tested by the French chemist Melouin in 1742 to protect the kitchenware from corrosion. In 1780, the Italian Luigi Galvani discovered that two different metals, called zemin galvanizing, layan which lay the groundwork for the galvanizing process, could come into contact with each other. In 1837 Stanislas Sorel filed his first patent application. French Stanislas is also the name father of stainless steels. English stainless steel is written as Stainless steel.
galvanized sheet
Hot dip galvanizing has been one of the sectors that have been invested in our country in recent years. When we look at that Galder General Galvanizers Association and member activities, we see that Turkey has made dozens of the company’s hot-dip galvanizing. The size of hot-dip galvanizing pools also determines the size of the steels to be galvanized.
Galvanizing methods
Hot Dip Galvanizing: hot dip galvanized or HDG (ie hot deep galvanized): Galvanizing is the most common method. Rolling sheets pass through the molten zinc pool and are realized in continuous galvanizing lines. It is also called HDG – GI or GZR sheet in steel sector. The sheets produced in Erdemir galvanizing line are called GZR. Erdemir galvanized sheets are referred to as Gzr symbol. Erdemir Galvanized sheet metal commercial qualities are DX51, DX52, DX53 and DX54. Erdemir Gzr sheets start from 0.20 mm thickness and can be produced up to 2 mm.
Electro Galvanizing: It is a zinc coating method which is quite different from hot dip galvanizing process. It is applied to steel in zinc electrolysis process. Anode zinc plate and cathode steel and electrolyte zinc sulfate. In other words, instead of being immersed in zinc, zinc adheres on the electrically applied sheets, thereby producing galvanized sheet. In this galvanized coating method, although the electricity consumption is very high, an excellent result is provided.
Erdemir is Turkey’s first galvanized sheet metal coatings on galvanized steel producers. In recent years, many private companies have invested in galvanized sheet production. In fact, Tosyalı Toyo investment made by Tosyalı Holding jointly with Japanese investors by Toyo KOHAN has become the largest galvanized sheet coating facility of recent years.
