You may have seen that the letter P is at the beginning of the boiler sheets, which are also called pressure vessel steels. This is because the material is in the P quality group. It has high sowing and yield strength for design. In high temperature conditions, its creep resistance and impact resistance are very good. Mechanical properties will vary depending on the type and amount of alloying element contained in the material.

Its excellent formability and weldability are other advantages. Since its weldability is determined according to its heat treatment properties, it is normalized or tempered after hardening in the market.
High temperature and pressure are a dangerous issue per se. Overpressure can cause explosions, gas leaks and consequently fire. Therefore, the selection of materials for pressure vessels to be produced in the industry is of great importance. By using boiler sheets, products resistant to high pressure are obtained. Steam and gases interacting with the heat may cause corrosion after a while. Boiler sheets offer safe use for a long time thanks to their corrosion-resistant feature.
Boiler sheets are used for the production of on-board systems to be used in areas with large work areas such as roads, dams or construction sites. It is used in the production of LPG tubes and pipes carrying hot liquids. It is a good material for the petroleum refining industry.

There are many types of boiler sheets of different composition and quality. While Mn content is higher in unalloyed ones, S and P elements are less. They are subjected to the normalization process to prevent unwanted errors such as roughness, cracks, rough scratches. Its only bad side is that its mechanical properties begin to decrease after 350 degrees. Therefore, it was necessary to produce an alternative material, and low-alloyed boiler sheets with Cr, Mo, Mn, W and V elements added in certain proportions were found. Here, the amount of molybdenum with the Mo abbreviation plays a critical role. It is added to the material between 0.25% and 1.10%, allowing it to withstand high temperature conditions.
